Product Description
This delightful game is simple and easy to play, even for children who can't read. Fun pictures help kids understand the rewards of doing good deeds as they climb up the ladders-and the consequences of naughty ones as they slide down the chutes. For 2 to 4 players. Game includes: game board, spinner with plastic arrow and 4 pawns with plastic stands. My 6 year old granddaughter loves to play this game with grandma. She loves to win, but she has also learned to lose once in a while. I recommend it to parents and grandparents. It is a great way to have fun with your children or grandchildren.
My 3 year old niece loves this game. I gave it as a gift and she couldn't be happier. It took a little time to get her to understand how to play, but once she did she really got into it.
I bought this for my grandaughter she loved it and plays it al least once a day
I am so happy I bought this game. I never had one as a kid but I played last night for the first time with my daughter, 5 and my son, 3 and we had so much fun together. Although we get very busy we are going to start having several game nights a week. The game was interesting enough to hold my 3 year olds attention to the end which doesn't happen often, they got to practice their counting and I got to explain ethics and morals. The "rules" were very easy to catch on to and their were lots of giggles and laughter! Don't wait any longer to add this to your game room:)
I've played this game recently with a 3-1/2 year old (almost 4), and we had a great time. It's a good experience for the child, because they get to learn rules, practice counting, taking turns, etc. The little pieces are cardboard, but they seem to be thick enough that they should last a long, long time.
This game is a classic that I played when I was little. Our original game held up for years. I don't see today's version holding up for too long. It's the same thing of they don't make them like they used to.
However, it's still a great game and my boys both enjoy playing. I do too.
This is a fine counting game for young kids. I have to echo what others have said though and say that it really should have more arrows on the path for kids to follow. And the cardboard pieces are a serious design flaw. I really don't mind the cheap pieces, it's not like this game is very expensive, but they don't fit in the box unless you take them apart first. The cardboard will fray and you will be lucky if the game makes it to a second child.
The board is too busy as well. Simple ladders and slides would be fine. Instead, the designers seem to be attempting to teach lessons by having "good" deeds go forward and "bad" deeds go back. But they don't make sense and some are not appropriate for the age the game is intended. One of the "good" deeds shows a kid bandaging a dog's leg. Who thinks a young kid should be touching an injured animal? Another shows a kid mowing the lawn. Should a 4-year-old be anywhere near a lawnmower? Yes, I know these are just silly illustrations, but they're so unnecessary. You might spend most of the game explaining the pictures instead of playing the game.
This is the classic Chutes and Ladders you know and love from when you were a kid. Bought this for a 4 1/2 year old boy. It was a little frustrating for him at first when he realized that getting to a chute means going backwards, but now that he's used to it, he enjoys the game. Helps him practice counting.
I am not sure if there are different versions of this game, but my daughter got this for a gift, and while it is fun to play, it can be confusing at times. The board needs to have less pictures on, and more arrows pointing to which direction you are going. For little ones who like to play this, it is sometimes easy to forget which direction you are going and end up going the wrong way! (lol! I have done it myself). The board seems a bit too "busy", and the numbers are very small, with only a small arrow at the beginning of each line. The only other negative I have is that the game pieces are a cheap cardboard that must be put together before each play (otherwise if you don't take them apart they won't fit into the box ). This means that the cardboard will eventually become frayed at the bottom where you stick the pieces into the plastic bases. They really should be one solid plastic piece. So I give the game designers 0 stars, and the 3 stars are for game concept and overall fun factor.
I played this game as a child and with my own children and now I am playing it with my grandson. While some of the graphics have changed slightly it is still the game I remember. My Grandson enjoys it just as much as my sons did and we all have great fun together. In addtion it helps to teach them sharing and waiting in turn. My grandson really loves going down the "slides". I think the classic games of childhood are great ways of bringing the past into the present.
