Very cute product. Grand daughter loves working with clay when her mother and I do gumpaste. The tools in this kit resemble our real ones. Seems to be made pretty well. Only disappointment was the clay was dry and unusable. I had to buy her some different clay.

Customer Buzz
i thought the toy was better in the photo than what we received. the pieces were a lot smaller than i thought they'd be and not as well made as they appeared. the 4 press in round stamp toys were cheap plastic with sharp edges on the back where the kids would hold them to push them into the play-doh - not comfy or safe for little hands or big hands either! i thought they were going to be solid round wood stamps. the square shape stamps were made of wood and were ok, but very very small. the rollers were also very small. i was honestly pretty disappointed and didn't think it was worth $[...].

These wooden playdough toys by Melissa & Doug are absolutely wonderful! We have several playdough toys for our 2.5 year old daughter, and these are by far the most played with. She loves the little blocks that create different shapes (triangle, circles, squares, very cute) and she loves the rollers!

I have had no issues with paint chipping off on our set.. we've had this set for about 3 months now - played with several times a week.

The dough that comes with this set.. yeah.. throw that away. Not very good.

Highly recommend these toys - excellent playdough toys!

Customer Buzz
What a great toy! My two year old grandson loves it and plays with it also most everyday.

Customer Buzz
This is a wonderful idea and my 2 1/2 year old loved playing with it -- for about three days. Then the paint started coming off the molds. Even though my son is past the stage of putting everything in his mouth, this seemed like a health hazard and I returned it.

Customer Buzz
This product is fun for my granddaughter to play with. The case it comes in is great except it would be better if it had a lid so it could be utilized as a storage box long term.
Great product, fast shipping, as advertised.

Customer Buzz
This is great. The tools are much more sturdy than playdough tools. The clay isn't that great, but we mainly bought it for the tools. Of course, it still makes a mess....doesn't all playdough???

Customer Buzz
We got this toy as a gift for my 3 1/2 year old and 21 month old. They loved playing with the tools and stamping shapes in the play dough. I read a review on this before we got it and it said that the play dough was not the greatest so I was proactive and bought a box of playdough from fisher price. I am so glad I did, because the play dough that comes with this toy is terrible. I actually threw it all away so that it would not get accidentally used. Outside of the bad play dough, this toy is fantastic.

Customer Buzz
We just purchased our set and it is has high quality pieces, however the dough is awful. We have only opened the green one and let me just say, the color was all over our white little table, and luckily washes off well. Also it is way too sticky and we had to peel it off of the wood a few times. I wish the roller that looks like a pizza cutter actually could cut through, it just leaves a thin indentation across the clay which is not that exciting to a 2 3/4 year old. Rolling pins are fun and the little block molds as well. The plastic molds on the clay are not great and I don't expect them to last long. Overall nice set but I guess I expected more from Melissa & Doug and for the price. I will look into other brands to add on to our crafting box for clay play.

Customer Buzz
Cute playdough set. My grandson saw this, he hung on with bear claws. He loves playdough and enjoyed creating all afternoon! Wonderful set!

Melissa & Doug Shape Sorting Cube

Product Description

Ages 2 & up. This classic, wooden sorting cube is sure to delight any toddler. Features 16 large, colored shapes for little hands and a removable lid. Measures approximately 5 ½ square.

Customer Buzz
my 2 year old daughter still loves this toy and I bought it for her when she was 11 months old - durable and sturdy - fast service from vendor - Melissa & Doug items are good quality items that last a long time

Customer Buzz
A complete waste of money -- the child cannot manipulate the cube to look at different sides, because there is no latch that holds the lid on! It simply falls off, and all the shape blocks fall out, too. Very angry to have purchased this. What a ripoff.

Customer Buzz
This is a great toy! It's well made and colorful. My son loves it, he likes to use as a shape sorter and he likes to use the shapes as blocks.

Customer Buzz
I usually like Melissa and Doug, but this is a very poorly designed product. The box is made with shapes on five sides, obviously to play you should be able to turn the box at different angles. But the lid just sits on top, so it falls off if you turn it. It's a useless box with shapes cut in it, waste of money.

Customer Buzz
The lid comes off immediately. We thought it was defective so we brought it back to Toys R Us and got a new one but that is the way it is designed. What kid could or would want to hold the lid the entire time they are playing with the toy to make sure it doesn't come off. Also, our son would just put the shapes in the open side once the lid fell off or he'd get upset that everything he put into the shape sorter fell out.

I cannot imagine anyone tested this product. Toys R Us makes a wooden shape sorter that is much more environmentally friendly and no danger of lead. That one has a side that slides off and it's easy enough for a 2 year old to figure out but not so easy that it falls off. That one was a much better idea. What were Melissa and Doug thinking here.

[...]

Customer Buzz
I am not impressed by the quality of Melissa and Doug products, especially compared to brands like Plan. M&D seems to skimp or wood quality and on the objects' finish. This shape sorter compares unfavorable to Plan's 3-shape sort. The M&D sorter arrived cracked. The blocks aren't very smooth and don't feel great in the hand like Plan's do. And more isn't necessarily better. There are lots of shapes here, but our child likes the box better than sorting, while she loves to sort with the Plan sorter. I'd recommend the simpler, elegant Plan sorter over this one. And coupled with what I've seen of M&D products, I'm going to bypass them from now on and spend a few dollars more for toys that will last multiple children (and grandchildren).

Customer Buzz
We have tons of Melissa & Doug toys and really are impressed with their overall durability, educational value, and price. However, this is one of the few pieces I would not buy again. The shapes are chunky, varied and colorful, but the design is flawed. It is very difficult for my daughter (received it at one year is now nearly two) to get the shapes in the holes because of the layout. She has other shape sorters that are much more child friendly. Overall this is not an enjoyable toy for her.

Customer Buzz
We were given this as a baby shower gift and I gave it to my daughter once she was able to sit upright on her own. She has been playing with it for several months. She is not yet at the stage where she is interested in sorting the shapes. She is a big fan of chewing on them and I've noticed the paint has come off on some of the edges. She also likes to put one into a plastic cup (from an Ikea staking cup toy) and shake it around, making noise. Once she started crawling, our little one discovered they quickly slide across the wood floor when she tosses them, and then she loves to retrieve them. I think she likes that the lid comes off easily, because that's the first thing she removes and chews on. Then she drops it on the floor, dumps all the blocks out, and chews on them. Not necessarily its intended purpose! Some of the blocks are smaller than I'd like and I sometimes fear she may choke on them, but I really don't think that is likely.

I suppose that if/when she starts to use it as a shape sorter, she will have to learn to put the shapes that fit into the bottom holes in there first; otherwise, if the bottom of the cube is lined with blocks, you cannot push the star, pentagon, and diamond in (well, maybe a very determined kid could forcefully shove them in and make it work!). I found that to be potentially frustrating myself because it somewhat takes away the fun of randomness out of inserting the blocks.

She (and I) have played with the Fisher Price shape sorter, the plastic one with 4 different shapes (3 pieces of each shape). That one allowed for less creativity because having only four shapes to sort instead of twelve different ones forces the child to learn that one shape fits one hole. If that's what you want, then the Melissa and Doug toy may not be for you, since more than one shape can fit through some of the holes.

Customer Buzz
I bought this for my daughter and she loved it at the first time she saw. The colors are bright and attractive. The shapes are just right for them to hold on their hands. This is more educative than other small toys such as cars or dolls.

Customer Buzz
This is a good educational toy; however it is quite challenging for a 2year old to get the shape into the correct slot. Some of shapes are too similar for example the square and the rectangle. The diamond shape when turned is very similar to the rectangle also. It is somewhat frustrating for a young child. I am sure in another 6 months it may not be. I would purchase this shape sorting cube for an older child.

Melissa and Doug Wooden Shape Sorting Clock

Product Description

It's time to "block" around the clock! Two toys in one, this colorful clock combines shape sorting and learning to tell time. Place the numbered and shaped pieces in their proper place on the face of the clock, then move the hour and minute hands to make telling time fun! Measures 9" x 5".

Customer Buzz
The Melissa and Doug Wooden Shape Sorting Clock is great quality and great as a teaching tool. The 3yr old recipient of this gift enjoys it quite a bit. However, I was disappointed in the complexity of ordering this on the Amazon site. I only ordered one - or thought I only ordered one and received three of these clocks. The return procedure was extremely easy -- easy printable return label, but Amazon refused to refund postage on the return saying the error was my fault. I felt the error was due to the complex ordering. Therefore, the product ended up costing triple what was listed. Other than that-- the product was great.

Customer Buzz
I bought this product when it was on sale, so I got a great price for a wonderful product! Very well made, colorful, durable, and very educational. I think it is very important to buy educational products for our children; they usually receive so many gifts that are "over the top" and not useful. I highly recommend this item!

Customer Buzz
My little girl loves this clock. We leave it setting on her little kitchen table so she can remember to ask me what time it is, and then how to make that time on her clock. She's about got all the hours down (all the "o'clock's") and is starting in on the "00:30's" and has begun to ask all sorts of time questions and make time statements. It's also helped her number site recognition with her challenge numbers of 10-12, as we pull a number out to make it her "buddy number" of the day, setting it aside so I can ask her about it and she can talk about it. And when we get to the minutes, it does have all the little hash marks for the 60 minutes of the hour. I only could want for the difference to be greater between "big hand" and "little hand," but that's nitpicking. They're "chunky hands" and I have to keep showing her how one hand is bigger, and it would be more obvious if they were just a bit skinnier. But overall, it's a great hit and is teaching her analog time very well.

Customer Buzz
This toy says it's for 3 and up, but I bought it for my son who's only 1.5 yrs. He may not get the "time" aspect of the toy but he really likes taking the blocks out and putting them back into their proper places, even so far as as aligning the shapes so the numbers are straight. Yet, we are still working on numbers, this is a great way for him to grasp the concept.

The Toy is all wood and, painted very nice and well detailed.

Customer Buzz
First off, we are incredibly big fans of Melissa and Doug toys. Many of their great products have found a home in our house for years. We had very high hopes for this clock, and perhaps it is partly our fault for waiting until our son was almost 4 to introduce it to him. We truly wanted this as a teaching time toy, as he already knows his numbers and shapes. We had two problems, first, the hands do not stay in the clock face. I'm not sure if this is a universal design or if it's a fluke on ours. Also, when I try and hold the clock face vertical or almost vertical for demonstrating to our son, all the puzzle numbers fall out easily. Little things, but those are the issues my family had. As such, it became just a puzzle of sorts, which lost my son's attention after about 1 minute.

Customer Buzz
The 60 seconds for each minute are missing! Needs to have the 60 seconds marked on the clock with every 5th number (over the large hour numbers)emphasized so children can learn to count by 5's to learn, for example, 10:10. There is room to do this... and would make a good educational better.

Customer Buzz
One of my kids is interested in telling time, and another is interested in shapes. They both like playing with this clock.

I read a lot of reviews that complained that the 5 has six sides and the 6 has five sides. Mine must be a later model, because the 5 has five sides and the 6 has six sides. But even if they were the old way, I wouldn't have been bothered by this at all: the 2 has four sides and the 9 has four sides and the 10 has four sides and the 11 has four sides and the 12 has ten sides---so the number of sides don't correspond to the number on the shape, and they're clearly not supposed to.

Customer Buzz
This is a great teaching toy. Wooden toys like this beat electronic gadgets every time. With a gizmo you assume, or hope it will talk to your child and teach them how to tell time. But we have quite a few of those gizmos and my kids don't play with them a quarter of the time they play with this. Yes, I noticed that the pentagon and the hexagon are reversed in numeric value, but so what. It took a minute to explain that to my daughter and she moved on. It turns out, it was just another learning opportunity.

This very colorful clock has been around our house for years. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking too.

This requires parent participation, it doesn't talk to the child but it really educates them. It gives them something to hold onto, both literally and figuratively. This is a really good toy.

Customer Buzz
I got this for my 5 year old and it's a great toy. She likes to put the different shapes in the holes but isn't too interested in learning the time part of it. I have a 1 year old and she likes to get the pieces and put them all the way in her mouth so please beware around smaller children.

Customer Buzz
Overall good product. the onside is a little too busy, but the shapes and colors are very nice. My daughter only chooses this toy ocassionally over others.
