 "Great Game But Red Playing Pieces Bleed" 2009-08-31

I love this toy and how it helps with brain development and logical deduction skills. BUT, and this is huge, after owning it for about a year now, have found that the red tiles have "bled" onto the cards and other playing pieces. The coloring agent (or dye) comes off after much handling. Not sure why. My kids only play with it under my supervision and so their hands have never been wet. Can't explain why this woud happen but thought it was worth noting.

I cannot say enough about these. My daughter's been playing with Mighty Minds since age 2 and we're on our second set as she lost a bunch of the pieces. It's a game you can play together and has increasing levels of difficulty. It's great to see you child's progress and develop her spatial conceptualization. I can see how this will help her with math and geometry, but also with drawing and imagination.

This is really a very very good toy. Its somewhere between a game toy and educational toy. Its so good that you yourself will be hooked onto it. There are times(2-3) when I was stuck and my 2 1/2 year old son said "No daddy not like this". I would say go for it, you will notice the unusual amount of hidden patience in your kid.

Went through this game with 3 of my children. Builds confidence, although after the 20th card, it may get frustrating with no clues (even for a 5 yr old), but with alittle encouragement from mom or siblings, they build confidence, creativity, and increase their math spacial perception (good for later math skills). My children are all now in either high maths/english/gifted programs. Highly recommended but only if parent/caregiver will help push them along occasionally when they are stuck.

The one I got didn't work. If you tickle the belly it would work, but the rest didn't. After fiddling with it a lot I got it to work a few times (but not all the time). It is not as funny as the original, the laugh is a lot more artificial to me, so not as funny as I remember the original to be.


My granddaughter is 18 mos. and is starting to love Elmo.....she really enjoys this toy as it jumps around and laughs a lot...could not get it to talk though


My daugter loves her elmo. She dances with elmo. It needs a little more padding around the machinery.


much fun if you like this crazy laughter of the red sesam-monster. and for me it's more a toy for adults, for children I think it's quick boring after a short time. but I like it !

Mollie is, believe it or not, 16. She has wanted an Elmo for years and I decided this year she would get one. Why not, she needs someone in the car with her, right? This was possibly her favorite gift, and she played with it til the batteries ran out! (THANK GOD) and this is from all her friends, her siblings and yes her grandpa and me. I really didn't know that Elmo could be so annoying! But she loves him and has made the rounds of Christmans parties and New years with Elmo in tow, entertaining everyone to the point of destruction, or I should say distraction, right, right, distraction, thats it.
Elmo is wonderfully agile and happy, happy, happy! Any child 18 months+ would be entertained for hours with this Happy little guy and parents would be able to curtail, limit, or hide the fun when necessary. I would recomend this toy to all 'young' very young children as a stellar gift! But for an almost not child, soccer playing, car driving, shopping til they drop teenage girl, No, under no circumstances, not a good gift. I can get affidavits on that if you wish. Her bff, her hhbl(hunk a hunk of burning love) would like to throw it out a window, going very fast down a major highway.................in heavy traffic.
But Mollie? She really loves Elmo. He was possibly her favorite gift!!


Cute toy, does what it is expected to do, but not cuddly by any means. Very robotic. Bought it for my 1yr old, as she loves Elmo... and she liked it until we turned it on then she kicked it and couldn't get away from it fast enough. I think an older child would enjoy it's antics. We've shelved it for now....


It does only the basic thing. It stops in the middle when it is "unlocked" with the special codes. Basically, it was broken when we got it. The kids still love it, but I am MAD MAD MAD that it does not do what it was supposed to do for $40!


I was pleasantly surprised when we took this toy out of the box... I thought he just sang & giggled when tickled, but once we removed the tab from his foot Elmo would throw himself on the ground, slap his leg, & kick his feet while laughing! My niece loves him!!


I bought this toy for my 3 year old son for Christmas after a friend highly recommended it. I had it shipped to my work location and opened it up to see how cute it was. Many of us were laughing as hard as Elmo. This toy is good for just about any age.

Monopoly Electronic Banking Edition

I would bet that I haven't played the classic version of monopoly more than 3 times in the past 15 years. However, I must have played it many times as a kid... I remember most of the property names, most of their prices, and so on.

This electronic banking edition is based on the "Here and Now" Monopoly edition. I found the "modernization" of the game to be unnecessary -- basically multiplying every single number by 10,000 and then labeling everything with "K" (for numbers in the thousands) or by decimal-point numbers with "M" (for numbers in the millions).

The updated metal tokens are nice. For some reason, the "electronic banking" version doesn't include the stack-able skyscraper pieces (found in the non-electronic "Here and Now" edition) -- opting for the old house and hotel markers. These never quite fit; four houses being slightly wider than the space provided. Seems like the skyscraper markers are often cited as the one noticeably superior feature of the "Here and Now" edition, so it was disappointing not to get them in the electronic banking version.

The electronic banking feature is itself a double-edged sword. It does have a "coolness factor." It makes setup and cleanup slightly easier. My wife figured that it would prevent lost money. It also avoids certain "making change" annoyances. However, it's SLOW and kinda clumsy. Even after playing this game several times, we sometimes reverse cards, making transactions go backwards (they all look very similar). This would never happen with paper money. This also sucks away some of the educational value. I was hoping that my kids would practice adding and subtracting (they're in 1st and 2nd grade). Having the electronic calculator eliminates the exercise. With numbers like 280,000 and 1,750,000 to work with -- labeled 280K and 1.75M -- the math is too hard for them, anyway (for no discernable reason).

All in all, though, monopoly is an awesome game, and that still goes for this electronic banking version. We are enjoying it a lot, and in all likelihood you and your families will enjoy it, too.


We like to play games with our kids and with friends. But we never played much monopoly, it seemed too involved. Now, with this electronic version, playing is much faster and more fun! With no money to be counted the pace picks up and you can actually enjoy the game!


The game goes much faster when your not stopping to count out paper money. However I wish the game board was the old Atlantic City. Guess its just because I'm a Jersey girl.



I don't think I'd ever finished a game of Monopoly before we bought this version. It's all the fun of the original Monopoly without the tedium of dealing with the paper money. We can get through a game much faster, so I actually suggest playing this on game nights instead of trying to convince my friends to play something else!


My grandson called me as soon as it arrived and was so excited! His Dad was getting it all set up so they could play! Think i made a great choice


This was a great version of Monopoly. It's so nice not having to count the money with the electronic credit cards. My only complaint is that the machine that adds and subtracts the money from the cards is a little slow. I love that it has the newer property names and the new board pieces, but it's still the same great classic Monopoly.


The kids love it because its novel and easy. As parents that desire to have our games be educational, we do not like that the players don't have to think for themselves regarding money. We would have preferred the our kids have spent hard earned their money on something else and enjoyed playing our old "traditional" Monopoly game. However, they thoroughly enjoy this game and that is what matters.


We bought this game as a present for our daughter for her 11th birthday and she loves it! She has played it with friends and we have all played it together as a family. It is a lot of fun and more modernized than the original game. The only drawback is the electronic feature for counting money as far as it being educational, but that is the whole idea behind this game. We have the original version and will play that with her as well!
Overall, we are very satisfied with our purchase.

We purchased this for our Partner's In Education school thru where I work and according to the teacher, the kids LOVE it. It was exactly as described and it works wonderfully.

My husband and I love Monopoly but needed something simpler to play it with our 4-year-old and the Monopoly Junior Edition fits the bill perfectly. The premise is simple and easy to understand, making it fun for our child. The game includes little ticket booths in various colors [ to correspond to one's chosen token] that can be 'purchased' and put on different places on the board, and which can then be used to charge 'rent' when another player's token lands on it. The currency denomination comes in $1, $2, $3, $4, and $5 and our 4-year-old was able to handle giving and taking of 'currency' quite well. The only thing that we had to help her with was reading out the "Chance" cards which require some level of reading skill.

Other than that, this is a fun game with simple rules that is not as competitive as the more grown-up version of Monopoly [which can even test the mettle of seasoned players!]. If your family loves Monopoly and wish to include young members in the game, then the Junior Monopoly may just fit the bill.


Since we bought this entertaining adaptation of Monopoly, it has been our son's favorite board game. It's easy for a 5-yr old to grasp and leads to lots of kid laughter and fun. It's even served as a primer for the discussion of addition. Highly recommend.


Although some adults might feel a slight twinge of regret seeing a "new" version of a classic game they grew up playing, this version is much better suited to very young players (four or five-year olds, perhaps?)

The rules are much simpler, the rewards come quicker and playtime is greatly accelerated -- teach your kids the basics of capitalism in mere minutes! I'm not wild about some of the property titles (the board is meant to reflect an amusement park and has lots of properties named after junk food and some soon-to-be-dated cultural references, such as the "American Idol" TV show) but overall, this is a good introductory kid's game, and is definitely worth picking up. Easy to play... learn math... Great fun & educational too!


I bought this for my almost 7 year old daughter and 4 1/2 year old son. They BOTH love to play! My daughter uses her math skills to manage her money and my son, surprisingly, can do addition as well. It also helps their reading skills. I like it better than regular monopoly because it doesn't take nearly as long. I do wish the board was bigger, as we frequently knock over ticket booths when rolling the dice and moving around the board. But overall, I like the game very much and think it's a great game for families.


This is the classic game Monopoly simplified to the point where there is no strategy whatsoever (and therefore no linking of decisions with consequences) but I must admit that my five-year-old loves it and it may get him interested in the real game someday.

Not only is it reduced to pure chance, but the rules are written so that the games are very short, since you lose when you run out of cash regardless of how many "ticket booths" you have on the board. The rules are written so you are forced to buy properties you land on, and you end up paying up a lot before your cash flow builds (and this is with only my son and I playing, the effect would be greatly multiplied with three or four playing).

On top of that, the board is little so that if you are in the habit of rolling the dice in the middle of the board, you are continually knocking the "ticket booths" off their properties, and if that weren't enough, the actual tokens are so big that only two can fit on a given square, but the game can be played by up to four people.

So, for new depths in fun-for-kids-while-parents-suffer, try this game. Too bad it couldn't have been made interesting for kids and their parents.


One of my favorite games is Monopoly. My children are still too young for "regular" monopoly so thought we would give this a try. We have NOT been disappointed. It is helping my 4 & 5 year old learn how to count money and my 7 year old who I bought the game for just loves it - even though he has the worst luck and loses just about every game.


My younger grandchildren would always beg to play Monopoly when us olders were playing and would get angry when told no. This version is great for the younger school age child. My 4 & 5 year olds can play this to,with a little help.Monopoly Junior Edition


My son actually discovered Monopoly online, and wanted a game to try at home. We opted for this since it just seemed easier and quicker than a whole game of the grown up version. It's really a great way to teach kids the game of Monopoly - the concept is fun, the money is easy to use, and the game doesn't last forever and ever. We play regularly. THe pieces are big enough for little fingers to handle. I highly recommend this.


My grandchildren can not get enough of playing this games among others and they try to play more than 1 game at a time but it is a very captivating game of challenge
