Product Description
Protect and store your Leapster Multimedia Learning System. This convenient carrying case holds the Leapster handheld and up to 6 cartridges (each sold separately).Let's face it, kids aren't the most organized. The Leapster carrying case allows for some organization with the Leapster, it's games and accessories.
I am not sure why so many are giving this case a bad review. We have had this case for my son's leapster lmax for more than 2 years (since he was 3 years old) and it has held up really well! We have had no problems with the zipper or the outer pocket that holds the games. It protects his leapster well, even though some view it as "too soft". I find it sturdy and durable for even the really young users. It has held 7 cartridges in the outer pocket and 1 left in the leapster fully zipped. He takes it everywhere! I have 3 children ages 1, 2 and 5 and they all use it. I am buying a second for my middle child - I just wish it came in pink. Don't hesitate to buy!
We looked carefully at these when buying cases for both our kids leapsters and decided on a simple lunchbox instead. It allows the kids to carry all their games, a spare set of batteries, the wall plug, AND their leapster all in one carrier. We've used this method for several months now and both kids (ages 3 and just 5) can open and close the cases easily. My son has the leapster game case, but we haven't gotten my daughter one of those yet and she's simply using an old walkman case to contain her games.
AND... if they ever get tired of their leapster the case can carry something else (even lunch).
I agree that this is a good case for protecting the Leapster. My four year old son has had this case for a year, and even when he has dropped it, the Leapster is fine.
My problem with the case is the pouch for cartridge storage. As other reviews stated, it is simply a small mesh pouch with a velcro flap over it. We have had cartridges fall out many times, and we have lost my son's favorite game because of this.
If you are looking for a case to protect the leapster, this is fine, but if you want something to securely store the cartridges, you'll want to look for something else.
If you have the Leapster I totally recommend this product. Keeps it safe from drops and every day wear and tear. Also plenty of room for the games.
Protects your Leapster & stores all your cartridges. Have one for each of my children. Would absolutely recommend it.
I bought the leapster storage case for my daughter's new leapster. I like that it holds both the leapster and a bunch of the cartridges. Otherwise, she'd definitely lose the cartridges. I kind of wish it had room to hold the TV connection wires too, because I'm sure those will be lost at some point.
So this case is getting a bad rap. I am happy with it. I did not expect something that would 100% protect the Leapster. My 3 1/2 year old has done great with it. He sometimes leaves the cartidges in when he zips it, has dropped it (of course) and takes it everywhere he goes. I feel that I have gotten my $24.99 out of it, especially compared to the backpack that offers a lot of storage but no protection. If you want your Leapster completely protected, opt for bubblewrap. The toys were made for young children, and are pretty durable themselves. Throw in the case and I think you are in good shape, as long as you dont have more than 5-6 games in at once. It survives our house!
Great idea to protect the leapster...but I have to say that everytime that my 4yr has opened it the game has dropped out of the case.. it is almost like it is backwards. Also, the pocket on the back does not hold the game cards very well.
Just got this Leapster Carrying Case for my son despite some of the "not up to par" reviews it has been given here. I purchased it from a store where I could get my hands on it to see for myself.
1. One of the biggest complaints I've read state that the old (triangle) design Leapster does not fit well into the case - that it's too tight and the zipper breaks trying to zip it up. My response to this is that even though this case WAS originaly designed for the old design Leapster, it fits the new (rectangle) design Leapster and Leapster L-Max much, much better. It's roomy and zips-up easily with a cartridge left in my son's Leapster. The zipper seems to be very strong and sturdy.
2. Several reviewers have mentioned that they were hoping the case was a hard-shell plastic rather than just soft padding. I believe that the case is actually thick enough to prevent scratches and damage from minor falls. Just yesterday the case, with the Leapster in it, was accidentaly kicked off of our coffee table onto our concrete floor. The case protected the Leapster perfectly.
I have taught my son that our possessions, like his toys, are to be taken care of and played with in the manner they are meant to be played with. He is to clean up and put away his toys properly when he is finished playing with them. Accidents happen, but this one lesson has kept all of his toys in like-new condition, and that is a lot for a 3.5 year old active boy!
3. Many reviewers mentioned that the mesh cartridge pocket doesn't hold the cartidges well. Again, I disagree. The pocket is meant to hold no more than 6 cartidges, flatly. The velcro closures close well with the pocket flap closing close to the pocket to where the cartridges do not fall out. With the rectangular Leapster, you can also fit a few cartridges loosely in the interior of the case. My son also realized that he could fit his full Leapster Cartridge Wallet into the mesh pocket of the case, allbeit the pocket flap does not close as well with the Wallet in it, it will not fall out!
Really, folks, this is a great case for the rectangular Leapster and Leapster L-Max. Much better than the flimsy and useless Leapster Carry-All Backpack.
