LeapFrog® Leapster® Learning Game: Scholastic Math Missions

Product Description

Math Missions gives children a chance to save the stores of Spectacle City and develop real-world math skills. As they complete orders at a candy store, build a skyscraper and more, they'll learn to face math challenges in the real world.

Even though my kids do not list this one as their favorite, I notice it still gets plenty of play-time. So... not sure what conclusion to draw from this!

Customer Buzz
I bought this game to my boy over a month ago. He is only 4 1/2 years old but he loves playing with it. At first it was a bit difficult for him until he got it. He has learned a lot from this game. Of course, some games are still too difficult for him, but he tries and tries... Sometimes he asks my help.
There are 4 games, I believe. For egsample, in the Seafood Market you need to select the correct fish to balance the scale or in the candy store you need to find the right candy for the customers.
It's fun and educational at he same time. My boy loves playing it. He plays and "earns" more money (he has over $500)than he "spends" it on the arcade games.

Customer Buzz
This game has a lot of math as the name implies. There is geometry and reasoning, multiplication, addition, subtraction and knowing even and odd numbers.

The way the game is set up you earn money for each task you complete. The more you play the more money you earn by getting raises. You can spend the money at the "arcade" where you can play three non-math, non-educational type games (snake, moon lander, and this other one that I forgot the name of but you are in a castle type setting finding keys)

It's a nice game, and I like the money earning concept. The math games hold my son's interest as much as the arcade ones do, so sometimes he'll amass huge sums of money before getting over to the arcade. Other times he'll deplete all his money at the arcade... but it all evens out because once the money is gone he has to do more math games again to earn more.

This was well worth the money paid.

My 6 yr old loves this game and is learning math with it. I have always been bad at math so I buy whatever I see that can help her so that she does not have my problem. Well, it is working she loves math and loves to play with her leapster. She says that is her T.V, when she is not allow to watch the real thing and she is not afraid of math. She was the first one in her kindergarten class to master adding and substrating. It is all because of the leapster.woohoo!

Customer Buzz
My daughter has loved playing this game. She was having problems remembering simple math this gave her the review she needed in a fun way. Her math grades have improved and I am happy.

Customer Buzz
We got this cartridge for Christmas for my 6 year old daughter. She loves it. In fact, my older kids love it too. They compete to see who can get the most money saved up, and get their name on the high score list in the arcade. This was our first LeapPad purchase. We will definately get more.

Customer Buzz
My kids got Leapster L-max's for Christmas this year and this is my daughter's favorite game. She will play it for hours if I let her and she is learning! I am excited to see what other games are available for her. My 3 year old son absolutely loves the Letter Factory game. He is really learning his alphabet. It is so neat to see them having fun playing and learning at the same time.

Customer Buzz
The overall design is excellent. Teaching is nicely mixed with fun. The kids got quite intensive Money training. Excellent Addition/Substraction. The multiplication is on the light weight side.

Customer Buzz
Because my daughter excels exceptionally well in Math, the games are challenging her and this is what I lke about the games.

Customer Buzz
My son, who is now five, received his leapster last November. He has several cartridges, all of which he enjoys. However, the Math Missions game, which we recently purchased online, seems to have captured his attention in a way that the others did not. While all the Leapster titles attempt to make a game out of learning, this cartridge does an exceptional job. For example, instead of requiring him to identify that 4+5=9, it gives him three fish, weighing 4, 5 and 9 pounds each. He needs to figure out how to put them on a scale to make the scale balance. This is a much more interesting "puzzle" and it teaches what an equation really means, at an intuative level. Another activity reminds me of the old game "Mastermind", where he needs to figure out the right combination of candies to put in a box. Through trial-and-error and deductive reasoning, he can figure it out. It's a fun challenge that teaches important logic skills.

The incentive system is also well done. By earning money for doing math tasks, my son can then pay to play "video arcade" games, which are more fun than educational in nature. (The games are simple and just the right level of complexity for 5-7 year olds, along the lines of early video games like pac-man.)He LOVES these games, and is willing to spend hours doing the math puzzles in order to earn the money to play the video games.

This is a great game. I hope Scholastic puts out more cartridges for the Leapster platform.

Customer Buzz
Even though this got good prior reviews, I am always a little skeptical, but my 10-year-old truly enjoyed putting this together. The "little things" like the mailbox, barbeque grill, and chicken leg continually make us all smile. Well worth it!

Customer Buzz
This is one of the best house designs by Lego. Although it's a little smaller than I expected, the details outside are fantastic. I like that there are many windows and some can be opened so you can see inside. The second floor of the house is also designed to be lifted easily to see the inside of the first floor. I love the fireplace, the patio, the satellite dish and the grill. Luckily, I have small non-lego furnitures that can fit nicely inside the house. I just wish that they added a couple of people figures to complete the set.

Customer Buzz
This is a great toy but it is overpriced on this site... 29.99 USD can be found on other websites...

Customer Buzz
I purchased this for a ten year-old family member. He was very happy with the Lego set and immediately began to build the beach house. The instructions were easy to read for him so he built it himself. Afterwards, he showed me all the little details, taking the roof off and exposing the stairs. The piece of chicken on the grill was cute. Now I know what it means to say "we didn't have all this cool stuff as a kid" Very happy and had no problems at all with the online service and shipping.

Customer Buzz
My two daughters really love to build things, but the LEGO trains, policestations and bionicles can't really interest them. They received this as a gift and in 1 afternoon build their first house!
It has girl stuff like a kitchen with a piece of chicken(!) and it is fun to see 'm work together and build this!
Excellent toy by LEGO!

Customer Buzz
I had fun assembling Beach house. Will I deconstruct and build the other two? That is to be determined; right now I'm satisfied with building the model I chose. Assembling lego toys are a good way to keep your mind active during the summer lapse of schoolwork.

Customer Buzz
I bought this for my 9 yr old daughter's bday because she's constantly creating with her brother's fire station set. I was thrilled to find the beach house set, however, didn't realize it does not come with a single figurine. That's very disappointing. The pink Bellville Sunshine House by LEGO comes with an entire family, why not the beach house??? Otherwise it's a great set with many hours of creativity waiting to happen!

Customer Buzz
My 11 yo son loves playing with this Beach House. He saved up his money for a while to buy this for himself. They can build 3 different structures with this set - 2-story beach house, 3-story-beach house, and a cafe. Also, it doesn't take up too much room to store away like some other Lego sets do. If your son/daughter loves Legos the way mine does, this would be a great set for them.

Customer Buzz
I like this set even though I haven't put it together yet at the time of this writing. It's nice that Lego has started putting out housing for the minifigs again. I like the bar-b-que in the back and all of the detail on the box. I am looking forward to putting this together.

Customer Buzz
This is a cute set, my daughter has enjoyed it. It's a challenge to find "girl" legos, this set could be for girls and boys. Educational: Great for fine motor skills, following directions, and follow-through.

LeapFrog® Tag Kid Classic Storybook The Little Engine That Could

Product Description

Read about the Little Blue Engine as it tries to pull a train full of toys up the mountain. "I think I can, I think I can," she chugs, but can the littlest engine of them all climb such a big mountain? Throughout the story, play learning activities that help build reading comprehension and vocabulary skills. Plus, connect the Tag Reader online to the leapfrog Learning Path to see what your child is learning.

Customer Buzz
I will need to buy another copy of this eventually, as my daughter is wearing it out! We have 5 Tag books and this is by far her favorite, but she loves trains so that is not surprising. This classic story is cute, the voices well done, and the games are interesting for her. I think the games are a bit easier on this story, which is good since she is only 3.5 years old. Highly recommend!

Customer Buzz
I've reviewed the Tag and the books. Basically I would place this book towards the top of the heap. Sponge Bob is so far the best followed by this book. I rate the books on quality of inter-activity and content. Not to mention the art work is of a quality that you would expect. The voices seem off but I'd have to see the movie again to verify. Overall a decent book and 2nd on my recommendation list.

Educational Insights Eggspert

Product Description

Spice up classroom management and practice math facts, spelling, history, science terms anything in your curriculum with this clever, motivating answer system. Powered by an AC adapter (included) or batteries. Eggspert features two modes of operation:

Jeopardy Mode:Each of the half-dozen Eggspert lights connects to an Answer Button held by a student. After hearing a question, students who want to answer squeeze their Answer Buttons. The fastest 'squeeze' lights up the corresponding 'egg' light and the question goes to that student.

Wheel of Fortune Mode: The teacher squeezes the Control Button setting Eggspert's lights into 'motion.' The eggs light up in sequence, blinking and beeping one at a time, first rapidly and gradually slower and s-l-o-w-e-r, until only one egg remains lit. The student (or team of students) assigned that color answers a question or completes an activity.

Customer Buzz
we used this for dental jeopardy at my dental school, it was awesome! everyone had a blast buzzing in and answering questions.

Customer Buzz
This is a great alternative to other much more expensive game buzzers. It has plenty of buzzers (6) and it is pretty durable so far. It works exactly like Jeopardy and it also has a random selection mode. It allows you to set a time limit for the contestant to answer the questions (5-20 secs). It also has an AC adapter so you dont have to waste buying AA battiers.

Customer Buzz
this is a great tool for me to use in my high school science class room. It really spices up review games. It is very economical and has held up well so far!

Customer Buzz
I bought this game for to used in my classes for review. It works great!! They recommend it for elementary to middle school students, but my high school students loved it!! It is very durable. They pulled it off the desk and it still worked. The buttons are easy to press and the lights and sounds are quite entertaining for the students. It is very easy to use and will work great with any grade level. A must for any teacher who has a classroom!

Customer Buzz
My high school students like to play games using the Eggspert as a review to prepare for their major tests. They even prepare the questions. I give little prizes to the winning teams. Students report they love it. My system is too new to rate sturdiness over the long haul. So far, so good.

Customer Buzz
I teach 4th grade, and my students love this game. We use it with vocabulary and spelling lessons as a way to review the day before their test. They look forward to getting to play. It could also be used to review for tests in other subjects too! I highly recommend it!

Customer Buzz
I'm so glad I bought this item! The Eggspert buzzer system is something I use often in my classroom. It makes it much easier to play Jeopardy-type games and keep track of who is first. I can even set a time limit for answering a question. My fourth-grade students love Eggspert! I use a PowerPoint file as a Jeopardy game with questions in Vocabulary, Comprehension, Grammar, etc. so we are reviewing key points in a fun and exciting atmosphere.

Customer Buzz
I purchased this to use during test review for my high school students. They LOVE it! It's worth the money to see their excitement as we review. A must have item for teachers.

Customer Buzz
I used Eggspert for the first time just the other day in my AP Spanish class. It's a very small class of advanced students so discipline is not an issue. I just wanted to spice things up for them a little bit. I created a Jeopardy game with questions using the grammar we have been studying and the students played. They were really excited about it. I am now planning on using it in my lower level, beginning classes to review for tests. To all you teachers out there, I say, "BUY THIS ONE!--It's worth it!"

Customer Buzz
Eggspert is fun. I was determined to learn history so I could win!
